Liquid adsorption and immersion of two alcohol–water mixtures on carbon molecular sieves

Abstract The adsorption excess isotherms of ethanol–water and propanol–water mixtures are studied on a series carbon molecular sieves with well-separated micro- mesoporosity at 298.15 K. preferential one component from mixture is measured by using vibration densitometry for the concentration analysis. Microcalorimetrically enthalpies, which released upon immersion materials in binary mixtures, complement data. It shown that (i) density measurements well applicable studying liquid-phase adsorption, (ii) liquid-adsorption sensitive to smallest chain length differences adsorptives, (iii) calculated separation diagrams depend strongly assumptions about adsorbed phase, (iv) combined determination gas, vapor liquid enthalpies offers advantages analysis complex systems.
